In 2025, the Glen Rock Police Department mourned the passing of retired Sergeant Harold T. Bogert #12, who died on June 30, 2025, at 97.
Sgt. Bogert served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947, earning the World War II Victory Medal and attaining the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. His military service reflected the dedication that defined his law enforcement career.
He joined the Glen Rock Police Department on April 1, 1951, was promoted to Sergeant on November 15, 1955, and served the Borough of Glen Rock with honor and integrity for 29 years, retiring on March 31, 1980. He was a Silver Life Member of Glen Rock PBA Local #110, a member of the Glen Rock Police Pistol Team, and a lifelong Glen Rock resident. He also faithfully served as an elder at Hawthorne Gospel Church. After retirement, he and his wife, Elizabeth “Betty,” moved to Charlotte, NC where he lived until his passing.
Sgt. Bogert leaves a legacy of devotion to his country, profession, faith, and family. The Department extends its deepest condolences to his wife of nearly 74 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Witte Bogert; his children Peter (Laura), Bonnie (Bruce), Tim, and daughter-in-law Kim; and his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
His life and service remain an enduring part of the proud history of the Glen Rock Police Department.
